Professional Fire Fighters of Pueblo West – Local 4765 represents the career firefighters serving the Pueblo West community. Our members are dedicated to protecting lives, property, and the community through professional all-hazard response, including fire, EMS, haz-mat, rope rescue, water/ice rescue, and other emergency services.

History

The Professional Fire Fighters of Pueblo West Local 4765 was established on August 20, 2009, to represent the career firefighters serving the Pueblo West community. As the area has grown, so has the responsibility placed on its firefighters—responding to emergencies across a large and diverse service area that includes residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, and critical recreation areas.

Since its formation, Local 4765 has worked to support the professional development, safety, and well-being of its members while strengthening the fire protection and emergency medical services provided to Pueblo West residents. The Local exists not only to advocate for firefighters, but also to help ensure the community receives reliable, well-staffed, and properly equipped emergency response services.

Through collaboration with department leadership, local officials, and the community, Local 4765 continues to play an active role in the growth and professionalism of the Pueblo West Fire Department.

Mission

The mission of Professional Fire Fighters of Pueblo West Local 4765 is to support and represent the firefighters who protect lives, property, and the environment of Pueblo West.

Local 4765 is committed to:

Coverage Area & Community Impact

The firefighters represented by Professional Fire Fighters of Pueblo West Local 4765 serve a large and diverse community with unique operational demands. The Pueblo West Fire Department provides emergency services to approximately 36,000 residents across nearly 100 square miles, including residential neighborhoods, commercial areas, and the recently acquired Pueblo Reservoir region.

With three fire stations strategically located throughout the district, firefighters respond to a wide range of emergencies—often covering long distances to ensure timely service across the entire coverage area.

In 2025, the department responded to more than 4,400 calls for service, including:

  • 3,618 EMS calls

  • 784 fire-related incidents

Already in 2026, call volume continues to rise, reflecting ongoing community growth and increased demand for emergency medical and fire protection services.

Beyond emergency response, Pueblo West firefighters play an active role in community safety through fire prevention, public education, and preparedness initiatives. From medical emergencies and structure fires to wildland incidents and special operations, the members of Local 4765 are committed to protecting lives, property, and critical community resources—24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
